TWO HAMMERTON HOMES WIN 2014 MOUNTAIN HOME AWARDS

We’re excited to announce that two Hammerton projects have won the 2014 Mountain Home Awards from Tahoe Quarterly magazine. Both Hammerton and Lightspann light fixtures were featured in these beautifully designed homes — one authentic lodge-style and the other mountain contemporary. We enjoyed working with all the architects, builders and designers involved in these projects and congratulate each of them on their achievements.

The first award went to a classic lakefront home on Lake Tahoe that boasts European flair and authentic lodge-style features. Architect Dennis Zirbel looked to the home’s natural surroundings for inspiration, incorporating granite boulders from the site and other natural materials like Douglas fir and cedar to give the home an authentic mountain feel. Builder Robert Marr Construction brought this vision to life, navigating some of the trickier aspects of the lot, including the 100-foot change in elevation. Inside, interior designer Trish Dietze with Juniper Hill Furniture and Design continued the classic mountain look with a variety of rich materials and furnishings.

Hammerton custom designed all the major decorative lights exclusively for the home. The authentic lodge architecture and native finish materials provided the perfect backdrop for a Craftsman-inspired lighting design defined by dramatic, large-scaled fixtures. One such fixture can be found at the top of the cupola in the great room. Similar fixtures are located throughout the home, providing continuity to the interior and infusing the home with lodge-style details.

The second award went to a mountain contemporary home in Martis Camp on Lake Tahoe designed by The Sandbox Studio architects and built by Tony Hardy Construction. The architect and builder, along with interior design firm Hudson Design and the client, worked collaboratively on creating a cozy yet sophisticated getaway defined by contemporary touches and a breathtaking mountain backdrop. A custom Cyclone chandelier was selected as the centerpiece fixture for the great room, underscoring the home’s modern, eclectic feel.

Are you feeling inspired by these award-winning homes? If you’re currently working on a large-scale design project and are in need of custom lighting design, contact Hammerton today for more information about our services.
