Six days, six stages, and nearly 600 miles, the Tour of Utah is one of only five UCI-sanctioned, multi-stage, North American pro cycling events to take place in 2013. Since its opening race almost a decade ago, the event has evolved into a prestigious athletic spectacle, attracting international attention and showcasing some of the world’s most illustrious teams and cyclists.

The 2013 race began on August 6th with Stage 1 in Brianhead of Southern Utah. Due to the heat and altitude, the Tour of Utah has become notoriously known as the “America’s Toughest Stage Race,” and this year was no different. Of the 122 riders that crossed the starting line, only 91 completed the race.

Park City hosted the final Stage 6 event on August 11, a 125.5 km circuit that included 7,633 feet in elevation gain. The Stage 6 winner, Francesco Mancebo, received a branding iron featuring the Tour of Utah logo that was custom crafted by Hammerton artisans. Our employee team includes a number of avid cyclists, so we were thrilled to contribute to the event.

Congratulations is due to Tom Danielson, riding for Garmin-Sharp, who finished the race in 23 hours, 5 minutes and 45 seconds and was crowned champion on August 11th during a ceremony on Historic Main Street in Park City.
