What was it that allowed Hammerton to evolve from a young upstart in Park City to a nationally recognized luxury lighting brand? To the untrained eye, it may be wholly attributed to the unique styles of fixtures and the meticulous detailing that Hammerton offers. To the trained eye, however, it’s apparent that the remarkable detail with which each fixture is designed and crafted goes far beyond precision to achieve perfection. It is the exacting eye of Hammerton co-founder Levi Wilson that came up with the guiding principle for perfectly proportioned and scaled fixtures. We call it the ’10-Inch Rule,’ requiring each fixture to withstand an uncompromisingly scrupulous eye from less than a foot away.

The 10-Inch Rule is fueled by the firm belief that lighting fixtures are functional pieces of art that must satisfy specific practical requirements while also captivating the eye. Our clients – which range from luxury homeowners to leading hospitality brands around the globe – know that Hammerton not only meets the highest functional standards in the lighting industry, but the highest aesthetic standards as well.

It does not start and end with the 10-Inch Rule. At Hammerton, every step of the production process involves in-depth quality control. We carefully examine the quantity and size dimension of all incoming raw materials. During fabrication, we meticulously evaluate every kerf, cutting, grind, weld, texture and tolerance. With each layer of the paint process, we compare the quality of the color, character and consistency to detailed boundary samples. A product is only released for shipping once it has unquestionably passed a rigorous final inspection. Quality control measures are not bound to the shop: we also install shock tags in our shipping crates to monitor movement during transit.

Hammerton goes through great lengths to create fixtures that exceed industry standards. The gallery features detail shots of several fixtures so you can see the Hammerton 10-Inch Rule in action.
