RUTH’S CHRIS: CREATING DISTINCTIVE AMBIANCE, ONE RESTAURANT AT A TIME
As the largest luxury steak restaurant brand in the U.S., Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse is famous for its sizzling 500-degree cooking techniques and top-notch cuisine. The superb food, however, is not their only hallmark; it’s the whole Ruth’s Chris dining experience, which is intentionally made distinctive to each location.
While there are certainly similarities in the menu selections and dining quality found at each of the 135 Ruth’s Chris locations, the interiors and ambiance experience is another story. Each restaurant takes an entirely unique approach to interior design that offers a singular interpretation of sophistication, style and comfort based on the restaurant’s location.
Hammerton has had the honor of providing decorative lighting for several Ruth’s Chris locations. Using a range of materials from blown glass to steel mesh and elegant fabrics, Hammerton’s designers collaborate with each project’s interior design team to customize fixtures with the colors, materials and aesthetic qualities that would most effectively deliver the desired ambiance of the particular location.
The interiors of the Ruth’s Chris location in Cincinnati designed by Broadmoor Design Group were inspired by early twentieth century art deco design. Rich colors, dark woods and leather create a look that is strong and sophisticated. In order to underscore the art deco design while adding a softer, more whimsical touch to balance the masculine feel of the interiors, the Hammerton team designed and crafted a number of transitional fixtures to suit. Some of the chandeliers, pendants and wall sconces are from the Hammerton Seriph Collection and feature graceful swirls and curves and sleek steel finishes; others showcase subtly feminine forms sheathed in elegant fabrics.
Most recently, Hammerton custom designed several large contemporary chandeliers for a new Ruth’s Chris location which will be opening later this year. These massive double-tier fixtures are made with slumped textured glass and stunning steel finishes.
