AN AVIATION-INSPIRED BAR LIGHT TAKES FLIGHT

This wonderfully whimsical fixture — created, of course, for an aviation enthusiast – is an excellent example of the custom work we do with customer-specified materials. What started out as a vintage propeller was cleverly transformed by our designers and artisans into an eye-catching work of functional art. The client pilots his own plane around the world and asked us to incorporate his love of flight into a fixture for his home in the California High Sierras.

Our design team procured a 70-year-old J3 Cub propeller to serve as the main component of the fixture. Extending from it are three lashed rawhide shades, each featuring a hand-inked illustration of a vintage aircraft from the same era. The combination of restored wood and hand-lashed rawhide underscores the fixture’s frontier feel. Says the client: “Everyone loves this light!”
